Jorhat Engineering College was set up with an intention of providing an efficient system of education and to cater to the needs of technical manpower in the North-Eastern region of the country. The college now offers four year under graduate courses in five disciplines, viz. Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering , one three year post graduate course in Computer Application leading to The Master of Computer Application (M.C.A.) degree, and a post graduate degree in Production Engineering under the Mechanical Engineering Department from the session July 2004 . Each department of the college has the well equipped laboratory. The well organized Workshop of the college provides exhaustive hands-on-training to the students. The college maintains a good relationship with the leading Industrial Organizations of the region by extending consultancy services and through industry-institute interaction programs.
