The department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the major departments of this college and was started from 1961. This department has an annual intake of 60 students in undergraduate level. Over the years the department has earned a place of high repute through its quality teaching and vigorous practical training. | Laboratory Facilities: The department avails the facilities of well-equipped laboratories of various disciplines. The faculty members are fully or partly involved with the laboratories to give the technical guidance to the students in their Laboratory works. The different laboratories are: • CAD/CAM Laboratory • Dynamics of Machineries Laboratory • Engineering Mechanics Laboratory • Heat Transfer Laboratory • Fluid Mechanics Laboratory • Mechanics of Material Laboratory • Internal Combustion Engine Laboratory • Production Laboratory • CNC Laboratory • Measurement Laboratory The students under the department are required to complete compulsory laboratory works from the 1st semester to the 8th semester. The laboratory facilities include modern Capstan and Turret Lathes in Production Laboratory, CNC Training Lathe of DENFORD make Design and Drafting Software in CAD/CAM Laboratory, Universal Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine in Mechanics of Material Laboratory, Tool makers Microscope in Measurement Laboratory, etc. Students Projects: Every year a number of interesting project works are taken up by the students under the guidance of faculty members in their last two semesters, among which a few are industry related problems of the region. • Design of Constant Mesh Gear Box Components • Design of Fabrication of an Intercooler for 2 Stage Reciprocating Compressor using Vortex flow technique. • Development of CNC Software for generation of Image Specified Profiles using Edge Detection Techniques • Manual Automatic Transmission of Motor Bikes. • Design Software for Cryogenic Tunnel Freezer. Library Facilities: In addition to the main library of the college, the department has a library with reading room facilities. The department library consists of a number of Journals, Bulletins, Textbooks, and References and IS Codes related to different areas of Mechanical Engineering. The library also stores sufficient number of project reports. Both students and faculty member avail the library facilities. |
